Disseminating and Last Quarter Moon

January 28 Monday

This Libra Moonday suggests we take advantage of social circumstances to mutually support one another no matter how different the individual needs are. At 1:31 pm, MST, Mercury goes retrograde, and the Moon displays her subtle capacity to transmit the uneven, perhaps irritable inner conflicts related to both the Mercurial and Martian energies in the air. At 2:48 pm, the Moon goes void of course until tomorrow, fanning out the ritual niceties of Libra. We may sense a fluctuation between being overcritical of others and giving them the benefit of the doubt during this vulnerable period.

January 29 Tuesday
The disseminating Moon is in Scorpio bringing us a deeper understanding of the cultural relationships that either improve conditions or blind us to the rottenness of certain old ways. It is important to remember that the cycles of life are spiraling, traversing new territory while overlapping the old and being infused with progressive and retrogressive ideas. It is in our relationship to both the old and the new that we can learn the ropes that can change states of enslavement into opportunities to escape bothersome plights. Find ways to incorporate or unify problems as a means of advancing.

January 30 Wednesday
The Scorpio Moon entered her last quarter phase last night. Acknowledge what has been experienced over the past three weeks, and that some unknown factors must be faced in the weeks ahead with a different kind of focus. A sense of commonality, that most, if not all humans, share the need for defense, to feel strong or at least protected, does not wash away the need for psychological independence or the desire to show off one’s individuality. And with Mars going direct at 3:33 pm, MST, egoic drives may be strong. Scorpio reminds us, paradoxically, of the need, however, to dismiss the ego to attune to our desires.

January 31 Thursday
The Scorpio Moon went void of course early this morning, draining out the residue of deep psychic issues into the middle of the afternoon. Various insights and interpretations of events may selectively be exposed during this mirage-like, vanishing period. At 3:08 pm, MST, the Moon moves into Sagittarius, a sign that thrives on adventure that promises social excitement. During the last quarter phase such a journey is riding the edge between the old and the new. On this weekday walk while recognizing the familiar, give special consideration to novel elements that capture your attention.

February 1 Friday
If we get wrapped up in the past with this Sagittarius Moon, we may have missed indicators of new paths to explore. Avoid getting stuck in recurring yet unwanted behavioral patterns unless you want the future to be like the past. The challenge today is to break free of the ritual display of ordinary reality and enthuse the hours with outlandish personal celebrations of hope. Take the time to affirm the little actions that brighten the passing moments. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 1:00 to 1:30 pm, MST, for the weekend Moon Minute.

February 2 Saturday
The pale Sagittarius Moon in the midday sky reflects the unleashed energy of Mars. Carpe diem, and choose your own direction. And be forewarned that after 3:21 pm, MST, a figurative steamy mist hovers over the rest of the day as the Moon voids herself of Sagittarius. Disorientation may easily be the result. Early Sunday morning the Moon enters her balsamic phase and then moves into Capricorn. Do away with outmoded ideas and clear a path that can allow new growth. Don’t get stuck in old ways; empower your authenticity, integrity, and backbone.
