Balsamic and New Moon

June 30 Monday
The Moon is in Gemini, quickening a perception of how things are, as well as discerning what is not visible, the hidden stuff. The question is, how much can we juggle during a day that promises to exercise our assertive abilities, which may possibly encourage conflicts, while maintaining a bridge that supports relationships. A part of us may want to be totally open with an intensity that can be ruthless. Yet there are sacred rituals, sometimes called social etiquette, that are expected and seem to intrude on one’s passionately felt need to pour out what is constellating within.

July 1 Tuesday
During this balsamic phase with a Gemini Moon, we may be profusely filled with information for our spiritual development, with thoughts that go to the heart of who we are. To truly value such wisdom we may have to struggle to break through superficial layers of what is important. This can be a somewhat stormy day on the inner planes. And to get through it smoothly, it is best not to rely solely on our personal strength and agility. Gemini is a youthful sign indicating that we become young again and willing to discover new ways of dealing with adversity, ways that suddenly glide into our awareness.

July 2 Wednesday
In the middle of the night, the Moon entered Cancer, urging us to lift our consciousness, to see if our activities converge with, or are at least close to, materializing our true goals and ideals. The New Moon comes tonight at 8:19, MT, bringing impulses for feeling out new directions ripe with potential. The darkness of such a Moon provides the perfect setting to use other than physical functions to perceive the glow of our inner child, the one that is full of love and grace, and that if well nurtured over the days ahead, can reveal how to stay serenely with oneself in the face of turbulence.

July 3 Thursday
With this Cancer Moon, feelings may arise about the complex bonds one has formed with parts of oneself and with others. What motivated them? Was it hardship, the promise of improving some condition? Were cultural or other ties involved? By finding a way to express what conditions and standards created these connections, we may awaken some hidden memories that offer criteria upon which to decide future action. The Moon goes void of course at 2:13 pm, MT, until early tomorrow morning. This pouring out of Cancer can be like a rainy day, somewhat dull and muted. Self control may need to be exercised.

July 4 Friday
On this day of American celebration, we have a Leo Moon which can easily get caught up in dramatizing traditional ceremonial practices. And, if every there was a time for renewing the spirit of 1776, it’s now! Today we can touch the creative fire within us to cheer on and feed the spiritual principles upon which this country was born – life, liberty and justice for all. We can see through the present day illusions and express our nation’s essential beauty with the eyes of our inner child. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute.

July 5 Saturday
The Leo Moon mirrors the kind of heroic behavior that takes those risks that put one on the edge, throwing caution to the wind. The one caveat is to be sure that one is resonating with the longings of one’s heart. If there is uncertainty, there can also be deception. At 4:35 am, MT, Sunday, the Moon enters her crescent phase. This is when the new impulse of a lunation cycle begins to materialize. Without visible pride and appreciation for what one feels in one’s guts is close at hand, it may be troublesome to nurture the self-love that stirs within. The Virgo Moon on Sunday stimulates self-help.
