Balsamic and New Moon

August 25 Monday
With Monday’s Gemini Moon, we may gather all the information pertaining to how we give new life to something essential to our creative nature and use it to concentrate on innovative personal behavior. At 3:52 pm, MT, the Moon starts to blow off data-rich Gemini, creating a slight disorientation during her short void of course period. At 6:18 pm, she moves into her home sign, Cancer. There, she heightens feelings, especially about how they have motivated us to work through the challenges we’ve faced during this month if we’ve wanted to change. Remembering feeds our realizations.

August 26 Tuesday
With the Cancer Moon we can take delight in what has recently taken shape in our personal sphere. Self-consciousness is amplified, and with that magnification we can choose to be in the joy of self-discovery or we can become overly self-critical. To get a grasp on levels of approval and disapproval, examine whatever feelings arise against the backdrop of family and social dynamics and expectations. Do you want to preserve conditions of the past at the expense of personal progress? The sign of Cancer represents the challenge to develop one’s individuality amidst the comfort and joy of tribal membership.

August 27 Wednesday
The Cancer Moon entered her balsamic phase early this morning. While she drips off the light of the Sun during this period. She is keenly aware of the vast hidden realms of the cosmos. Some of her darkness symbolizes our ability to perform habits even in the dark. We are challenged to sing a new tune learned during this cycle, one full of poignant anticipation for the next steps in the dance of life. The Moon goes void of course at 6:13 pm, MT, draining herself of the soothing waters of Cancer for over two hours. We may articulate deep intense feelings that have a profound impact during this time. At 8:51 pm, the Moon moves into cheery Leo!

August 28 Thursday
Thursday’s Leo Moon, in some odd sort of way, pushes things forward, and we may find ourselves rushing to keep up this morning. Change is ubiquitous, and at the end of a lunation we may feel as if we don’t know what’s what anymore. New inspirations are arising while some things are disintegrating. The days right before a new Moon are often quite strange. Today and tomorrow we may be deeply absorbed in what may feel like a loss of self or of another. We need to look for the hidden secrets in life. In so doing, we just might discover an underlying harmony.

August 29 Friday
The Leo Moon is at the end of her cycle with the Sun. We may glimpse how well we have integrated our inner and outer lives. This provides an opportunity to embrace our finesse as well as our clumsiness. Both give us feedback on our human performance; both can be applauded. With an open-heart it is easier to surrender one’s ego, to give oneself to greater possibilities. It is the grace of our spirit to easily step into the unknown. This is the profound wisdom Leo seeks!

August 30 Saturday
The Moon moved into Virgo during the night and conjoins the Sun at 1:58 pm, MT. This new Moon emphasizes the need for direct experience to both draw us deeper into our inner magic as well as lead us out into the best that our culture and civilization can offer us. This new cycle begins with moments and opportunities meant to be seized if for no other reason than to inform us about what prevents us from being full on in the experience of life. By attending to our emotional forces, especially the more gentle ones, our consciousness can focus on our inner fire. Its sparks can enliven our quest for liberating and even extraordinary encounters this weekend.

Disseminating and Last Quarter Moon

August 18 Monday
With this Pisces Moon, the day is full of uncertainty; anything can come out of the seemingly borderless world of Pisces. There is an impulse to move on to establish some changes or, at least a renewal of resolve to bring about some. There is hope in the midst of feeling confronted by what needs to be released or worked out. This hope can be reinforced by envisioning one’s inner beauty and finding ways to calibrate with an imagined expression of it. For example, the kindness in one’s heart can be consciously projected onto a smile, or a helping hand, or giving water to a plant or animals, like birds.

August 19 Tuesday
The Pisces Moon is void of course from 5:41 am to 8:10 am, MT, feeling directionless and releasing spaciness, as she empties herself of oceanic Pisces. At 8:10 am, she moves into pioneering Aries. There may be moments when we can pinpoint the emergence of the consequences of changes that occurred lately or of those that have not been made. These results can be used as a compass to direct us. Their symbolic significance can provide deeper insight and advice, especially as it relates to the fulfillment of our desires.

August 20 Wednesday
The Aries Moon enters her disseminating phase at 6:51 am, MT. This is when an amassed sense of comprehension comes about what was aroused and released from our subconscious mind during this eclipse cycle. Such an understanding can help us identify core pr oblems and take steps to avoid disastrous situations. We may recognize some of our more complex emotional needs and the cultural assumptions that block satisfying them. The assertive energy of Aries can help to bring out competing influences and ways to see how they can be coordinated.

August 21 Thursday
On this Thursday morning the Aries Moon brings together a fire choir of intuitions about the hidden mythic harmony of the events that have occurred in the past three weeks, stirring up siren-like longings in our souls. At 10:53 am, MT, the Moon begins to void herself of Aries’ out-going and insatiable approach to life, weakening ability to fend for oneself. Things begin to stabilize at 12:38 pm, when the Moon moves into sure-footed Taurus. We can re-ground ourselves and look for what moves us beyond unsettling intrusions. Taurus pursues what is perceived to be worthwhile.

August 22 Friday
With this Taurus Moon, we can make commitments to organize the day with progress as the goal. The Sun moving into Virgo at 12:02 pm, MT, supports a practical arrangement of activities. A sense of purpose permeates and draws us into alignment with the standards we have set for ourselves. As the day wanes, electricity and hyper-stimulation seem to fill the air. This may scatter our energy and bring about sudden changes in one’s mindset. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute.

August 23 Saturday
We have a void of course Moon raking out the precious earthly images of Taurus. If you’re out shopping, stick with items that have some usefulness in the near future, like sensible food that replenishes health and energy. At 3:48 pm, MT, the Moon moves into mentally-driven Gemini, where curiosity is often piqued. At 5:49 pm, she enters her last quarter phase, a time to view the meaning, value, and influences of this cycle from inside out and acknowledge that there are unseen, unknown gifts of consciousness awaiting us a week from now. On Sunday conflicts between freedom and security may arise as harbingers of more change.
