New and Crescent Moon

September 29 Monday
Early this morning the Moon conjoined the Sun in Libra and began her new phase. This cycle continues a theme of showing off the relationship of our inner and outer self. It encompasses all levels of our spiritual journey, including our social identity and how we’ve learned from group involvement to discern the nurturing and the threatening forces. How socially responsible are we in doing our part to tap into the crosscurrents of these times and be involved with our collective destiny. Do we sleepwalk in the trance of cultural assumptions, or do we embark on a path outside of our comfort zone?

September 30 Tuesday
The Libra Moon draws our attention to how we sustain relationships, both those within ourselves and the bonds of mutual support with others. It is a delicate balance not to be so fully engage with one’s internal needs that we become oblivious of external requirements. If we see external circumstances as a projection of our spiritual values, we may more readily do what is right, not only for ourselves but also for others and the planet. Attending to all three of those components is essential if we desire to meet pressing demands and push forward towards some kind of idealized social unity.

October 1 Wednesday
The Moon is in Scorpio, barely visible in her newness and giving us an inside view of what it is like to struggle in the dark, not knowing whether or not we have sufficient protection from lurking dangers. Sharing common bonds that are for s omething as versus against something, can help. Whether we have been through internal or external battles, or both, there is a wisdom that emerges from those experiences that knows survival is possible, as well as miracles. It is in facing the unfaceable that we learn how to heal the unbearable. If motivated by the core of our being, we can cut away fear and moves towards a new way of living.

October 2 Thursday
Thursday’s Scorpio Moon brings a vulnerability to unsettling moments. Attunement to our emotional states can help us determine whether or not we need to let go of some old fixations. Strife may persist if we resist allowing some of our daily demands to be met in entirely different ways. With an inward focus on what is desired, we may magically slip into a world we’ve been envisioning for a long, long time. The Moon goes void of course at 4:47 pm, MT, until tomorrow morning. While she is draining out the heavy, potent waters of Scorpio, we might investigate the mysterious power of one simple change in our lives.

October 3 Friday
Very early this morning the void of course Scorpio Moon entered her crescent phase, a time when there is a strong sense of more to be done, more to partake in. Such a feeling can compel us to do what is needed to support some self-interest that has emerged since Monday. At 9:14 am, MT, the Moon moves into Sagittarius, urging us to express our ideals in ways that address our personal inclinations and that stir us towards a larger future that overcomes any nostalgia for the past. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute.

October 4 Saturday
This crescent Sagittarius Moon offers incentives to move beyond outmoded behavior. Some of Saturday’s opportunities provide ways to get through the deepest quandaries. To do this we need to pay attention to the cues that fit the roles we are playing. We can leap over the shadows of our past on Sunday. This may require some ego-busting and letting go of one or two very fond notions of some peculiar habit. Sagittarius can deliver some blazing confrontations with the truth. Issues of groundedness and practicality may come up Sunday evening as the Moon rids herself of Sag for two and half hours before moving into Capricorn at 9:48 pm, MT.
