Crescent and First Quarter Moon

September 21 Monday
With this Scorpio Moon our minds may be pondering solidified behaviors that evoke the purist spiritual aspects of ourselves as well as those actions that inflame emotions that smolder and flare up. It is worthwhile to think seriously about leaving behind those habits that trigger unwanted and unpleasant responses. Scorpio deeply feels the uncomfortable truths of living, and, like all water signs, seeks a container within which it can feel safe. Such a space for Scorpio usually includes people who share similar values. Who are those people that warm up the Scorpio in you?

September 22 Tuesday
Very early this morning the Scorpio Moon entered her crescent phase. The next four days are optimal for each of us to find our unique place in social interactions. But it won’t be easy without a penetrating focus to see it in the humdrum buzz of routines. It may also be necessary to leave all disdain or contempt behind and adopt a playful, creative demeanor. The autumnal equinox occurs at 3:19 pm, MT, when the Sun enters tropical Libra, setting an atmosphere for social engagement on many spiritual levels. While participating with others, stay in touch with the ebbs and flows of your emotions.

September 23 Wednesday
At 5:43 am, MT, the Moon leaves Scorpio and enters Sagittarius, offering a glimpse at the underlying depths and beauty of camaraderie. Look for this as the day has thunderous rumblings about changing conditions. There’s no escape from them – only choices on how to meet them: suffer, resist, grumble, embrace, or co-create with them. Our thoughts can get hyper-stimulated by clearing out our psychological blockages to change. Work out the differences between what you like and don’t like. And give attention to a new direction that encourages growth.

September 24 Thursday
With this Sagittarius Moon there is a playful, anything-goes atmosphere. Overdoing something may become an issue. This is a day to don our team-spirit feelings and all of our understanding of social role-playing. There are some experiences we assume to be universal that elicit certain fun poses. If, however, you find yourself being defensive in such an interaction, it is a signal of some hidden psychological force to examine and bring into greater awareness. Also with Sagittarius we may become more aware of the differences between dynamics of one’s in-group and of larger social gatherings.

September 25 Friday
The Sagittarius Moon encourages us to celebrate all of life. That includes the past and present with their sense of promise. At 8:15 am, MT, the Moon begins to empty herself of Sagittarius’s social enjoyment. While she is void of course, it is ideal to ponder our spiritual aspirations and how they are included in our dreams for the future. At 4:19 pm, the Moon moves into self-conscious Capricorn, where one can detect the subtle differences in outward behavior. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute.

September 26 Saturday
Late last night the Capricorn Moon entered her first quarter phase, a time to develop new behaviors, or at least notice how doing that is avoided. In this cycle it is suggested that we look at how we prepare for or reject group activities that take us into unknown territory. What is needed to open up to a new dance in life? Sunday morning vulnerabilities may show up in deciding whether to invite others to sing to your tunes or just flow with the music of the day. The social status quo is an easy solution, but does it emotionally support the direction you are taking?

Balsamic and New Moon

September 14 Monday
With this morning’s Cancer Moon we can easily attune to receiving information from our subconscious mind. This may come in the form of scientific inspiration or a spiritual awakening or both. The Moon goes void of course at 7:57 am, MT, pouring out the fluid comfort of Cancer until late this afternoon. During this time our appetites may be insatiable. We may hunger for many things that represent love or affection, and being alone may trigger fears of abandonment. From a mystical perspective isolation is an illusion. At 4:39 pm, the Moon moves into zestful Leo!

September 15 Tuesday
The Leo Moon entered her balsamic phase at 5:27 am, MT. This part of the cycle supports transcending stagnant conditions by envisioning new ways that transform them. There are strong polarizing tendencies today that can drive us to spontaneously express what inspires us. This may include defending our beliefs. So find a metaphoric shield much like the lion trainer’s chair. Leo can bring a playfulness to deal with stubborn realities and adventurous influences. This combo can produce a tense excitement for getting loose from social restrictions.

September 16 Wednesday
With this Leo Moon there is a longing to mend bridges. And as we move into the Moon’s void of course zone at 10:11 am, MT, we may become extremely sensitive to all needs with heightened intuitive understanding. This can help us rework certain realities. At 5:56 pm, the Moon moves into analytical Virgo. This mirrors our ability to research underlying motives to find raw, honest facts with which to sum up a situation after sorting out various factors. Some profound thinking may occur but not without strong emotional flare-ups.

September 17 Thursday
With this balsamic Virgo Moon, focusing on putting old issues to rest can provide a whole-hearted clarity for dealing with whatever comes up and to succeed with it. Virgo is usually concerned with the best possible outcome, and Virgo diligence and thoroughness usually minimizes effort. In this last phase, the balsamic, the Virgo Moon can look toward the future with reserved feelings that help differentiate what can rationally be done and what will take faith. Retrograde Mercury moves back into Virgo tonight, mobilizing attention on the spiritual aspects of the coming new Moon!

September 18 Friday
There’s an electric atmosphere with this morning’s Virgo Moon about cutting loose from old ways and establishing new goals. The new Moon occurs at 12:44 pm, MT, with a theme of focusing on how one plays one’s part in the larger scheme of things. In one’s daily activities are there behaviors that demonstrate a reverence for those rituals that connect us to social and spiritual processes? Pay attention to habits that serve a high purpose. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute.

September 19 Saturday
The new Moon moved into socially alert Libra last night. Here the Moon seeks serenity and refinement. Today, however, feelings can get churned-up and lead to outbursts of passion. Sunday morning a peaceful, even poetic, sensitivity prevails. The Moon goes void of course at 12:44 pm, Sunday, gently airing out the harmonious vibes of Libra for pretty much the rest of the day. This makes the end of the weekend ideal for reflecting on the state of your social interactions. Are they operating in an ideal fashion, or are they getting off track emotionally?
