Balsamic and New Moon

December 14 Monday
The balsamic Moon is in Sagittarius, delighting in all the spiritual gatherings this time of year and nudging us to consider a different rhythm in our social engagements. There’s encouragement to tread a new direction, no matter how tentatively. Opportunities abound in activities that draw people together. A great wealth of emotion can be enthusiastically shared today with a level of confidence that gets passed around to everyone. Sagittarius’s cheerful disposition can rise above even the most dire of circumstances. All we need is our inner moral compass to guide us.

December 15 Tuesday
With this Sagittarius Moon we may be aware of some far reaching potential that we long to have manifested, but it still needs to be held closely and guarded. And what is needed most for its promise to unfold is our belief in it. We need to find a steady way to protect it in its embryonic stage and in the next few days bring whatever it is out of hiding and into a viable state for developing. This invisible balsamic Moon is surreptitiously bathing in the Sun’s light and sweating off toxic forces that prevent deviations from commonly held practices.

December 16 Wednesday
The new Moon phase began at 5:02 am, MT, with the Moon and Sun together in Sagittarius, initiating a theme of watching how we get into a rhythm for pursuing some compelling and eccentric fancy and go with it, play around with it. Also at this time the Moon is void of course, spewing out the frequently naïvely trusting optimism of Sagittarius. Seek to see the bigger picture and don’t make decisions until 3:32 pm, when the Moon moves into clear-headed Capricorn. Then we may feel obliged to express some new facet of our behaviors.

December 17 Thursday
The New Capricorn Moon reminds us that our personal lives are part of a larger social scene which we can easily participate in today. There’s a give and take atmosphere that we all can enjoy with reciprocity. Each of us is blessed with an honorable experience. Pass it forward with good thoughts and feelings! Capricorn fosters wider awareness of principles and is resigned to deal with difficulties. There are opportunities to take on new, liberating elements in our activities. During this holiday season we may feel inclined to seek out wild things and places that bring out normally hidden sides of us.

December 18 Friday
With this Capricorn Moon mischievous energy is twinkling in the air. Light is shed on the trickster in us that wants to be unpredictable. That part of us wants to be freed up to pursue some delight. At 1:07 pm, MT, the Moon goes void of course, shaking off the inflexibility of Capricorn for the rest of the day. During this time we may feel inhibited and need to resign ourselves to present limitations. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute.

December 19 Saturday
The Aquarius Moon can easily adapt to new situations and new comrades. Today excitement and stimulation come with companionship. With Aquarius we identify ways in which we invent and re-invent certain rhythms in our daily activities. With Mars going retrograde Sunday morning in Aquarius’s shadow sign, Leo, we may notice which of our humanitarian behaviors demands our energy and triggers irritability when ignored. We may want to be all-inclusive on Sunday, but our basic chi is needed for internal activity. Too much external physical behavior can leave us exhausted.
