Balsamic and New Moon

February 8 Monday
With this Sagittarius Moon we may be bombarded with information that links old, perhaps over-worn feelings with budding possibilities of excitement. There may be success in playing around with different positive, uplifting emotional states in search of one that brings a favorable change. Opportunities for innovation can be found in pitting what has been with the promise of what can be. Our sensitivities are needed to bridge the two. Sagittarius is a sign that can get stuck in extremes. With the use of instinct, intuition, and feelings this sign can find the idea middle ground that takes one beyond what has already been explored.

February 9 Tuesday
With this Capricorn Moon, we face immense pressure to deal with our power to change. We may see the need to be prepared for what is taking shape on the metaphorical road ahead. The Moon enters her balsamic phase at 3:55 pm, MT. This is the last part of a cycle when it’s time to bring together practically everything to brew up a new way or a new vision for the future. This lunation calls for surrendering our views, trading them in for higher truths. To do this we may need to leave our comfort zone, to explore new perspectives that may alter some of our values.

February 10 Wednesday
The Capricorn Moon reminds us of how accomplished we are, of how many things we do impeccably on cue. What is important for us to attend to is how we feel about those skills and habits. If we truly appreciate them and ooze, like sap from a tree, the feeling of gratitude for them, we just may generate more pleasing achievements. Don’t let old fears of success inhibit you. Today there’s the opportunity to clear out feelings that are restrictive at the expense of freedom. Liberation comes in the joyful participation in life’s happenings.

February 11 Thursday
At 5:39 am, MT, the Capricorn Moon goes void of course, shoveling off the crystallized energy of Capricorn for almost eleven hours. During this time we may experience some dissolving of rigidity about rules or boundaries. We might minimize the importance of getting certain things done. This is an ideal time for solitude and a quiet space for meditating or actively engaging one’s imagination. At 4:24 pm, the Moon moves into inventive Aquarius, and our multi-tasking ability shifts into high gear. We may feel like doing several things at once in our own unique ways.

February 12 Friday
With this Aquarius Moon we may feel like proceeding through the day in a methodical manner, yet trying to go beyond the obvious, creating a tug-of-war between “there’s only one way to think or act” and avoiding the usual, predictive modes. On this last day before a new Moon there is a tendency to break away from the past, to initiate the unconventional. We’re approaching something fresh, unknown , and attractive that is hard to resist. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute.

February 13 Saturday
We have a new Moon in Aquarius this evening at 7:51MT. This lunation cycle has a theme of checking our emotional levels for their effectiveness in putting us into appropriate and desirable states. Over the next few days, collect data on how you are feeling and what triggers various emotions. The Moon voids the selectivity of Aquarius over night and moves into the highly aesthetic and impressionistic realm of Pisces on Sunday. Tomorrow we may feel engulfed by all sorts of feelings. Their depth and intensity are worth noting. We are given what we need to address them.
