Last Quarter and Balsamic Moon

August 2 Monday
This Taurus Moon reflects the adjustments we make when we comprehend the meaning and worth of certain behaviors. Following the natural unfoldment of things is Taurus’s way to discovery. When arriving at a transition point, it may feel like waking up to phenomena that were there all the time. Now one can consciously use those behaviors and materials. Taurus brings appreciation of the psychological and social myths one is playing out. Now is an optimal time to give a form to some idealizations of those myths that can be developed over the next few years.

August 3 Tuesday
The Taurus Moon entered her last quarter phase last night. This is a time when we can grasp the meaning of certain hidden factors that have come to light during this lunation cycle and seize the opportunities to live with integrity with that understanding. Such a realization calls for persistent effort to protect one’s ability to creatively express oneself in the midst of a multitude of clashing influences. We may find ourselves flirting with a powerhouse of energy with which we can tackle big projects. If a spirit of resourcefulness and fairness is taken on, courage and strength may produce results.

August 4 Wednesday
With this Taurus Moon confusion may reign during the early morning hours as we struggle to grasp the importance of what we chose to do when we awaken. At 6:44 am, MT, the Moon goes void of course, sweeping out the stability of Taurus for four hours. At 10:54 am, she moves into the idea-cluttered world of Gemini. Fortunately this sign is skilled at connecting the dots. So as Gemini clears the air, our minds can seek out the essence of things and shape the day according to our ideals. We can grapple with difficulties and come up with solutions that make our journey through the day seem full of magic.

August 5 Thursday
This Gemini Moon informs us of the potential that lays in our past experiences. By extracting their meanings and playing around with them symbolically we may discover a path to something entirely novel. Gemini can be gifted with mental functions, not only the rational ones, but also those intuitive ones and phenomenon like telepathy. Sometimes these work unconsciously in people. If you find yourself making synchronous connections with others or even things, like events, know that some of those less acknowledged mind activities are at work today. The twin symbolism of Gemini addresses this type of mirroring.

August 6 Friday
The Gemini Moon enters her balsamic phase at 2:35pm, MT, beginning a period of appreciation for the passing changes and of envisioning the beauty of what is to come. At 3:22 pm, the Moon voids herself of the unfocused ambitions of Gemini for a half hour, and at 3:50pm, moves into easily puzzled Cancer. Something very significant is happening, but what it is and how to deal with it is unclear. Tonight, June’s lunar eclipse is triggered, probing the depths of how far one can go to protect oneself from outside influences. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute.

August 7 Saturday
This weekend’s mostly Cancer Moon is sorting through the rubble of feelings and thoughts to gather information that contributes to developing a plan of action that springs from the essential patterns or heart of one’s life. The Moon goes void of course at 12:46 pm, MT, draining out the mending care of Cancer until late Sunday afternoon. This leaves the rest of the weekend uncertain. Reality and fantasy merge, and our states of consciousness morph. Emotions go to extremes. Cancer is a water sign. Let its symptoms flow off of you. Energy shifts at 5:23pm, Sunday, as the Moon moves into roaring Leo, embraced with confidence.
