New and Crescent Moon

August 9 Monday
We have a balsamic Leo Moon most of the day, which can be disorienting for this seriously playful sign. Certain highly appealing projects or recreational activities may disintegrate in the melting rays of sunlight. A quality of elusiveness permeates. It’s time to rest, to go inward and be receptive to new impulses. Be easygoing and expect some dawning awareness to take shape. At 9:08 pm, MT, the Moon conjoins the Sun and begins a new cycle. It’s time to set intentions that have to do with gathering information about how you perceive and express the results of converging forces.

August 10 Tuesday
With this Leo new Moon we may set out to work on some unrealistic goals, desiring to prove something to ourselves. The Moon goes void of course at 1:10 pm, MT, burning off the excessively willful, impatient flames of Leo for four hours. During this time it may be hard to discern what’s what, and you may feel unable to hold your own space or stance. Hold off on any decision making until 5:01 pm, when the Moon moves into the scrutinizing realm of Virgo. Virgo has a discriminating mind for making out differences, even among apparently shared ideals. This sign can help find the spark of a new Moon impulse!

August 11 Wednesday
The Virgo Moon brings up fear of the vast unknown forces of the physical world that surrounds us, in particular of the unpredictable and menacing aspects of the inner structure and transformative properties of the earth’s elements, such as those components that manifest as lightning, volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, or even those manmade ones, like nuclear bombs. Today we’re reminded that we are part of the natural world, a nature that can be constructive and destructive. Sometimes we do the right thing; sometimes we run wild with mischief and mayhem. We learn these ways when we follow our instincts.

August 12 Thursday
The Virgo Moon has been void of course since last night, sweeping off the nature-sensitive attributes of this sign until late this afternoon. During this time it may be difficult to differentiate between what is genuine and what is artificial. Some data or information seems to be missing. At 4:43 pm, MT, the Moon moves into compensating Libra. On this last day of the Moon’s new phase, we might have a more mature image of the new impulses of this lunation. A blueprint may emerge of how we examine the essence of something and how we relate to experts or authority figures.

August 13 Friday
The Libra Moon entered her crescent phase early this morning. At this stage in a cycle effort is needed to materialize the impulses that came during the Moon’s new phase. There’s a need to find a place or time for one’s ideal imagination of these stirrings to be on display to shine. Libra is gifted with inner vision. To drop into that part of oneself is to land into a sensuality that instantly recognizes just how one wants things to be. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute.

August 14 Saturday
The Libra Moon can be the messenger of comfort and support. She mirrors those who provide an ongoing influence in our lives. At 2:06 pm, MT. She goes void of course, gently blowing off the mediating manners of Libra for slightly over four hours. During this time our sense of balance or harmony may become distorted. Our relationship with our inner muse may flourish. At 6:26 pm, MT, the Moon moves into the detached critical perception of Scorpio. For the rest of the weekend we may get lured into the deep rumblings of change in the human psyche. Scorpio can ferret out what is essential for us to share.
