First Quarter and Gibbous Moon

September 13 Monday
The Moon is squeezing off the last drops of obsessive Scorpio this morning, and at 6:52 am, MT, she flies into the limitless realm of Sagittarius, seeking brighter prospects. It is best for us not to get attached to certain notions while conversing with others. There are many more to follow. The Sagittarius part of us likes to produce multiple versions of something so that we get or give the total picture. Remember in this cycle the focus is on instinct or our inner wildness. Consider blockages or obstacles as ways of keeping us from straying, and besides, we may be deterred from making big things happen.

September 14 Tuesday
With today’s Sagittarius Moon there’s an air of self-indulgence that if directed toward our instinctual nature can lure us into nurturing what we most value and desire. Anything and everything might be tried for satisfaction. Sagittarius, however, can have his head in the clouds and overlook the obvious. This sign can be awkward and clumsy yet loves nature and seeks being out in the wild. Sagittarius is keenly aware of the divide between man’s animal nature and his mental capacities. Being out there today may offer the chance to unleash some powerful energies of your wildness.

September 15 Wednesday
The Sagittarius Moon entered her first quarter phase last night. We’re halfway to seeing some instinctual behavior full on in ways we haven’t been aware of before. It is important now to be committed to changing some habitual response to impulses related to our animal nature. There is a difference between integrating them with our personal rational mind versus subordinating them to collective pressures for some kind of social ideal. Our consciousness of daily rituals is being tested. At 12:52 pm, MT, the Moon begins to void herself of Sagittarius’s intuitive mind. At 2:30 pm, she moves into self-conscious Capricorn.

September 16 Thursday
The Capricorn Moon reflects on what is of most value. Capricorn has theories about everything, and today they get tested. Yours will relate to the area of your chart that Capricorn governs. Instincts will have to outsmart reason. Capricorn can recognize the shaky ground that some conventional, so-called rational behavior stands upon yet also sees the shortcomings of individual impulses that have no grounding on a big scale. Capricorn does search for a way to move away from those largely practiced social behaviors that are unproductive and somewhat pretentious. Are you walking on water, quicksand, or solid ground?

September 17 Friday
With today’s Capricorn Moon, we are urged to do some high-risk living by brushing doubts out of our minds and going with the connections our instincts dictate. Capricorn has been known to be sly and subversive if necessary to achieve some goal, even if it is simply to see what happens when one lets impulses trump rational thoughts. Sometimes rationalizing just bogs one down and blocks the entry into a whole new world. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute.

September 18 Saturday
The Moon moved into non-conformist Aquarius last night. Aquarius respects the individual’s autonomy to experiment with how one lives and welcomes living experiences that are different from those already perceived. So break free of some pattern today; plunge deeper into what seems to be attracting you. Something primal is calling you. On Sunday at 10:43 am, MT, the Moon enters her gibbous phase. It’s time to start putting everything together that you’ve learned about your wild side over the past couple of weeks to see if you can move to a different level of working with your instincts. Imagine doing whatever it takes to have instinct and reason work together in harmony!
