Balsamic and New Moon

January 31 Monday
The balsamic Capricorn Moon returns this morning to the degree at which she conceived a new form of consciousness for this cycle during the tense darkness of the last solar eclipse. We may more clearly see how we create our world and how we have control over it, or how we allow it to imprison us. Mobilizing energy to change what we perceive today will take all of our strength. There’s a heavy burden of responsibility and accountability for our behavior. Capricorn can be over-cautious, preferring to withdraw from threatening challenges. Feeling isolated today may be a sign of shirking some responsibility.

February 1 Tuesday
It’s best to consciously walk one’s talk with this Capricorn Moon. A climate of instability threatens the integration of our thoughts and actions. At 12:32 pm, MT, the Moon goes void of course shaking off the premeditated habits of Capricorn for almost four hours. During this time we may feel confused about what can be changed. Imagine simply letting go of fears as if they were pieces of paper dropped into a fire. At 4:21 pm, the Moon moves into sometimes shocking Aquarius. Our consciousness may be jolted by sudden realizations. Aquarius can be a rabble rouser, fomenting rebellion.

February 2 Wednesday
With this Aquarius Moon, avoidance of the usual morning rituals may be favored along with a willingness to try something novel. Restlessness and instability fill the air as is sometimes the case when a woman is about to give birth. The Moon will birth a new cycle at 7:31 pm, MT. With this new Moon, pay special attention to any obstacles that show up over the next four days. Look at them from every angle possible. This cycle is about how we deal with an impasse. What kind of shortcuts, if any, do we try? How do we see our way through some problem, especially if it is tightly intertwined with our past?

February 3 Thursday
Things are very unpredictable with this Aquarius Moon. Some of us may feel overwhelmed by emotions or factors in the environment or in the world at large. Whatever dilemma arises today, use your imagination to invent a solution, even if it’s beyond the scope of your ability to produce. The Aquarius Moon provides much detailed self-knowledge about some area of our lives. This encourages improvement which comes hand in hand with many discoveries. A blind spot for Aquarius can be detachment and self-sufficiency. Some problems are best solved with the help of others.

February 4 Friday
The Moon is in Pisces with a sensitivity for difficult situations. If we find ourselves in one today, we can depend on our feelings to empower us with ways through it. Some of us, however, may feel we are at the mercy of our environment and deny the power of Pisces’ inspiration and imagination to guide us out of tough spots. Tapping into these inner gifts can bring some great creative ideas. There’s an enormous need for independence and freedom that can revitalize us today. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute.

February 5 Saturday
With this Pisces Moon we can be inspiredly scientific. There are many ways to get around obstacles. Pisces sometimes uses deception or creates an illusion, seeing things in different ways. Take stock of how you deal with problems that delay the course you’re taking. On Sunday at 12:13 pm, MT, the Moon goes void of course, rinsing off the elusiveness of Pisces for over three hours. During this time we may feel buffeted around by the boundlessness of this period. At 3:45 pm, the Moon moves into the “not-to-be-deterred” sign of Aries. It’s time to study the context of the obstacles encountered in the past four days.
