Last Quarter and Balsamic Moon

August 22 Monday
The Moon is in Gemini, reflecting the myriad directions we can take to a new way of talking about our beliefs. Gemini is forward looking and makes concentrated efforts at connecting the dots. Today, however, the Gemini part of us may get distracted and behave erratically. Clarity disintegrates, and a hodge-podge of fantasies, images, and inspirations invade our consciousness. Remembering all of this will be like repeating verbatim the Jabberwocky after only hearing it once. An anchor is needed to keep the contents of the day secure. Sharing thoughts and events and comparing notes may help to rekindle the day’s experiences later.

August 23 Tuesday
With this Gemini Moon it’s highly possible to encounter either a steady flow of familiar information or people from one’s past. There may be a sense of déjà vu in such experiences. This can trigger a series of hunches that feed creativity, especially if one can identify the thread that connects what is appearing. Superficials can be a distraction for Gemini. Sometimes immaterial details can be an obsession. That Gemini part of us can get stuck in a groove. This can be avoided by thinking ahead and integrating old learning and former relationships into a new structure.

August 24 Wednesday
With this Cancer Moon there can be a tendency to brood over past shortcomings. With a little motivation from others, however, images of a better future can flood one’s mind. Nurturing from friends can promote some unanticipated activity. It’s possible to realize there is support in numbers that can release some great hidden strength. No matter what one feels and believes, there’s a prevailing bond that nudges us to take care of our common humanity. At the end of the day there’s an urge to incorporate support for a space in which everyone can voice their ideals. Be prepared for uncertainty tomorrow with a void of course Moon.

August 25 Thursday
The Cancer Moon goes void of course at 7:04 am, MT, washing off the emotional juices of Cancer until Friday morning. During this time moodiness may prevail, and some people may be easily hurt. This can be avoided by being sensitive to feelings personally and socially. At 11:44 am, the Moon enters her balsamic phase. During the days ahead leading up to the new Moon there is a need to bring together practically everything to come up with new ways. This may call for repetitive actions, digging into hidden resources and believing in one’s worth, to live up to one’s inner faith.

August 26 Friday
We start the day with a voiding Cancer Moon. We awake to compassion and gullibility! At 10:09 am, MT, the Moon moves into dramatic Leo, and an air of eccentricity takes over. Things could become unstable, and emotional reactions could appear like fireworks. Leo often does things with an openly visible flair. Spreading the spirit is Leo’s aim, and with Mercury in Leo going direct at 4:03 pm, our tongues may loosen up as if at a virtual party! Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute.

August 27 Saturday
The Leo Moon brings up concerns about creativity and triggers a desire to play or celebrate. Entertaining with a spontaneous party may satisfy emotional needs, just don’t have any unrealistic expectations. Conversations may be laced with heartfelt words. The Moon goes void of course Sunday at 11:12 am, MT, for an hour of dousing Leo’s exuberance. At 12:13 pm, the Moon moves into ritualistic Virgo, gearing up for the new Moon at 9:04 pm, which brings up a theme of looking at one’s routines and noticing when, if at all, one goes in circles, and under what conditions is a new direction taken.
