First Quarter and Gibbous Moon

January 30 Monday
With this Taurus Moon we can sense the attachments that keep us from breaking away from social structures that restrict our independence. Losing those possessions or connections is like being tossed out of paradise, but one of the lessons for Taurus is to let go and disown. True ownership is found in such a process. That advice is easily said but not done. Although Taurus knows how to make do, this sign does not like to deviate from the norm. Giving to others, to needy causes, is one way in which the Taurus part of us can slip into some other level of being that can transform our dependence on the past.

January 31 Tuesday
Last night the Taurus Moon entered her first quarter phase. It is time to be committed to a new course of action by nurturing and developing our inspirations for following our own paths. We can get passed our emotional hang-ups by heeding personal values and relying on our will power and self-discipline. The key is really trusting those inspirations. Today there are unexpected experiences which we get guided into that can get us through some rough times. These moments are like fate dropping by at just the right time to make possible disasters into amazing, miraculous good fortune.

February 1 Wednesday
With this Taurus Moon we feel like parading our ideals. Yet making that connection may be more difficult than anticipated. At 12:06 pm, MT, the Moon goes void of course, sweeping off the aesthetic tastes of Taurus for eight minutes. At 12:14 pm, the Moon moves into curious Gemini. All sorts of things can be discovered and many choices are presented. Gemini has a strong urge to socialize, but today engagement with others may be a bit uncomfortable or demanding. If we are not careful and selective, we could drain our energy on others and not be able to take care of our own needs.

February 2 Thursday
We start the day with a Gemini Moon determined to turn things around so that our thoughts and feelings are in tune with each other. Former acquaintances may come into play in turns of getting our needs addressed and satisfied. Especially if these people are on the same wavelength as we are. In the course of pursuing a new direction, we can move along smoothly today or get stuck in a dark alley. Independence might be the key to freeing oneself of difficult pressures building up and seeing situations from a different viewpoint. This Gemini Moon can support all sorts of explorations.

February 3 Friday
With this Gemini Moon our ability to keep moving away from a former nesting situation is tested by the strength of our internal sense of will power. No matter how things might or might not have changed, everything seems the same, as Neptune, the planet of unification, enters its sign Pisces and merges all into a melting pot. Resistance may be emotional or psychological, making us feel out of contact or socially distant. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute.

February 4 Saturday
Last night the Gemini Moon entered her gibbous phase. During this period it is important to stay focused on the priority of questioning a familiar condition by comparing and contrasting it with new ones. The changeable Moon moved into individualistic Cancer early this morning. Today we can confront the drive that propels us to search for a better social container that supports our collective identity more consciously. On Sunday, pay close attention to internal processes. Built up pressures can point to criteria one needs to move away from a no longer sustainable situation.
