First Quarter and Gibbous Moon

Monday January 6 The Pisces Moon is void of course until this afternoon. Our automatic pilot switches are activated in case we don’t want to get out of bed. We just need to let a sense of duty take over to put us through the motions. A voiding Pisces Moon can be like those magical moments when our minds easily dwell in other worlds. Instead of robotically entering a humdrum routine, we can approach it with an invisible wand, creating a delightful fantasy land. At 12:45 pm, MT, the Moon moves into the confident action of Aries, leaving the “ordinary, everyone is too much alike realm” of Pisces. Risk-taking, fed by intuition, is intriguing and enticing. We may feel inclined to do something rash. Tuesday January 7 The Aries Moon is always on the move. In its crescent phase this month, there is an awareness of patterns relating to certain arrangements which may be worrisome. We may want to break away from a conflict. Evaluating the situation may leave one depressed or feeling deprived. Inner influences suggest simplifying or at least trying out some new variations. Aries can open up to untried possibilities and take the initiative to try something different. This is exactly what the first quarter phase of the Moon calls for, and it begins this evening at 8:39 pm, MT. To begin this phase we need decisive action to follow one’s conscience and get into the rhythm of its standards. Wednesday January 8 With this Aries Moon, we might feel trapped with no avenue to what we desire. At 9:22 am, MT, the Moon goes void of course until tonight. While the Moon is snuffing out the adventurous pursuits of Aries, we can feel pacified by slipping into a lofty mindset. It will be easy for us to imagine escape routes and paths to what we would like to manifest. A voiding Aries Moon can feel like the energy to get up and go is oozing out of us. Those with strong wills may seem like they know how to seal any leakage, but emotionally ennui, exhaustion, or even depression may have crept in. The Aries in us can become like an over-achiever or workaholic, attempting the impossible without any satisfaction. Thursday January 9 This Taurus Moon brings out a knack for caretaking with little delightful touches which keep us developing a sense of how we acquire an attractive lifestyle. The values these actions represent can help us identify the socially desirable acquisitions we’re magnetically attached to. There’s determination to finely hone in on accepting a method which expands our ability to appreciate the sensuous rhythms and escalation of living. Taurus proceeds slowly at shaping the environment and transforming the simple givens of life. There’s a tendency to cling blindly to the status quo. If the starting point is a secure home base, however, there can be the self-confidence to grow. Friday January 10 This Taurus Moon emphasizes the personal values that we are comfortable pursuing. It’s like enjoying everything about the consumption of a favorite fruit, its juice, its stickiness, and its sweetness. Today we can grasp specifics about how we approach maintaining a good situation. We can also ascertain what the obstacles to getting what we desire are. The boundaries or walls that curtail us become obvious. What we want to achieve contributes to the development of our character. There’s hard work ahead to prove our worth. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute. Weekend January 11 and 12 The Moon moved into “getting as much data as possible” Gemini early this morning, as the Sun and Venus began a new cycle of pursuing an honest-to-goodness truthfulness. The information gathered today will need to be carefully sorted for uncovering what is essential in a lifestyle. At 6:51 pm, MT, the Moon enters her gibbous phase, when it’s best to tie up loose ends. In this cycle it important to dismiss fantasies or illusions about the “good life” and gracefully accept the truth of one’s circumstances. On Sunday we can get an overview of our conditioning and motivations regarding desirable livelihoods. The Moon goes void of course at 2:33 pm, Sunday, fanning off mentally-active Gemini until Monday afternoon. Emotions can overtake our intellects.
