First Quarter and Gibbous Moon

Monday May 5 The Moon is voiding herself of the irregularities of Cancer most of this morning. Uncertainty seems to be around every corner during this time, leading to confusion. At 11:55 am, MT, the Moon skips into Leo and lightens up the day. Generosity shines on everyone, and the spirit of this lunation urges us to give till we drop. Leo likes to serve others and bring them pleasure. The Leo part of our lives is where we can be most magnanimous. There is, however, some strain on the giving as the day wanes. Leo’s intuitive gifts seem to be stifled by some psychic impulses. One part of us wants to put all of our energy into a favored cause while another part feels tugged toward some vague yet irresistible ideal. Tuesday May 6 With this Leo Moon we can be alert to what needs repair. Perhaps we can “fix” something by offering guidance or protection, or by simply having fun with someone. Encouraging social participation can bring out the potential for a new spiritual vibrancy. At 9:15 pm, MT, the Moon enters her first quarter phase. If we’ve decided to focus on the habitual ways in which we engage in exchanges, it’s time to express what we can share exuberantly and stir up participation on more than one level. Leo ideally gives from the heart, but can do so for self-gratification, or to be admired or idolized by others. From now through Saturday we’re called to distinguish how and why we give. Wednesday May 7 The Moon is voiding herself of generous Leo all day! This is like being in a dense fog with limited visibility. It’s difficult holding to one’s own direction and agenda for the day, let alone trying to enjoy the company of others. In the strangeness of this lunar transition zone, imagination can be rich. It is best to act intuitively when stifled by problems. This requires authenticity. Leo can be good at play-acting, but this is not a time for imposters if one wants to attract substantial things. Sometimes during a void of course Moon, miracles can happen when one is least expecting something long desired to appear. And there it is! This takes being honest and real. Thursday May 8 The Moon is in “lending a hand” Virgo. Our feelings may lean on the side of supporting those we see most every day. Yet our colleagues don’t seem available this morning. It’s as if invisible walls separate us, and finding an opening is like walking the Great Wall of China looking for the right exit, only in this case it’s probably about getting over emotional obstacles triggered by complex needs. A veil of illusion might also cloud what’s really going on with the company we keep. We and our companions are engaged in a square dance today, and it’s not clear who’s making the calls. Our seemingly fated connections provide a set-up for uncovering material in our subconscious minds. Friday May 9 With this Virgo Moon emotions are churning up to the surface. Whether we are finding or giving help, there will be an eruption of feelings from the subconscious mind. This can produce much food for thought as well as a sense of things coming together, even in the midst of intellectual uncertainty. We may feel like getting others involved in what we are doing. At 4:08 pm, MT, the Moon goes void of course, sweeping off the critical evaluation skills of Virgo until late morning tomorrow. Our thoughts can easily become visionary during this time. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute. Weekend May 10 and 11 At 11:19 am, MT, the Moon moves into reciprocating Libra. Social and emotional responsibilities come up in the gentle chatter emerging from deep within the recesses of our minds. At 9:35 pm, the Moon enters her gibbous phase when it’s best to stay focused on priorities and visualize them in an ideal form. Sunday comes with a swirl of activity. We may discover some ways in which we prevent having an ideal social dream as we realize how our independence intertwines with our need for companionship. Sorting out feelings about this can lead to some adjustments. The Moon goes void of course at 6:51 pm, until Monday evening. While she flies out of Libra, it’s best to go with the ebb and flow of things.
