Balsamic and New Moon

Monday June 23 The Taurus Moon entered her balsamic phase at 4:19 am, MT. From now until Friday’s new Moon it’s best to take everything we’ve learned about the value of expressing the overall needs in social struggles and mix it up in our imaginations to envision a new, improved future. Venus is emphasizing this for us, as she leaves appreciative Taurus and moves into peer-conscious Gemini this morning. While incubating the seeds of the next lunation, it’s ideal to release or throw away any psychological or physical clutter, especially if it is related to ineffectual patterns of trying to introduce equitable practices within a group. The Moon goes void of course at 7:49 pm, MT, for almost ten hours of sweeping off reliable Taurus. Surrender to sleep and dreams! Tuesday June 24 This Gemini Moon reflects a keenly developed imagination. There’s plenty of ideas sprouting as food for thought. Social adaptability materializes when least expected. Most of the day, however, there’s a feeling of strife. Satisfaction seems difficult to get, and parity seems non-existent. Images of ideal conditions scream in our minds. Relief comes with an inner focus on the potential for a better future. Visualizing what that might look like and holding the intention to act towards that manifestation whenever possible is the best one can do during the Moon’s balsamic phase. The Gemini part of us is rarely at a loss of ideas. Talking them through with someone can subdue the restlessness or impatience of this sign. Wednesday June 25 Feelings of irritability come with this Gemini Moon. It may have to do with frustration in measuring up to one’s ideals. Freedom and independence can seem like an illusion today. Some may try anything to prove that they are not. Sorting out one’s feelings about personal and group identities can fortify beliefs about human equality and define some attitudes worth letting go. Deep lessons from group interactions this past month suggest we listen carefully to others to understand their emotional and intellectual assumptions. Many, if not most, of us behave according to well-embedded beliefs often unconscious to us, but sometimes evident in those with whom we interact. Mutual sharing of this information can be helpful. Thursday June 26 In the fairy-like magic of the early morning at 5:56, the Gemini Moon goes void of course until this afternoon. During this time, rich insights can be had by exploring the hidden realms of fantasy, magic, and mystery. For some this could be engaging intuitively or psychically. For others it could be a visionary trip into the near future. And then there are those who just wonder what happened to reality. There’s an other-worldly, ungrounded sensation during this voiding Moon. One can be easily swayed by suggestions. It’s important to give extra attention to details. At 3:05 pm, MT, the Moon moves into the warmth and security of sheltering Cancer. It’s still wise, however, to retreat and cocoon in preparation for tonight’s birthing of a new Moon. Friday June 27 At 2:08 am, MT, the Cancer Moon was embraced by the Sun to begin a new cycle. This lunation is about how we establish space in our lives for safe and comforting social support and involvement in which we can express our feelings fully. We’re looking for a combination of soft and hard love. Within such a giving circle, we can both escape an outer reality and pretense and experience a grounding force which insists on breaking away from alienating habits and giving new life to an individuating process. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute. Weekend June 28 and 29 With this Cancer Moon we may feel brave and curious to explore new emotional options in a public setting. We can stir things up by doing the unexpected with a flair. The belief in the possibility of moving mountains evokes a dramatic force in us. At 7:02 pm, MT, the Moon goes void of course for almost eight hours of draining off the external armor of Cancer. The Moon offers a dark night of impossible dreams which could be prophetic. At 2:43 Sunday morning, the Moon moves into risk-taking Leo. We may feel like taking on a challenge like doing something to eradicate oppressive conditions. With leonine drama, we can stir others to stand up for improved social conditions.
