New and Crescent Moon

Monday January 19 The Capricorn Moon is void of course all day. While she is shoveling off the civilized world of Capricorn, it’s an optimal time to dig into the depths of our souls for a deeper understanding of the truths which give life meaning and value. We can evaluate what pleases us, as well as how we treat the gifts of the earth. The Capricorn in each of us can become moralistic and uncompromising, believing that there’s a right way to do everything. Beware of excessive rigidity. One can get bogged down in excessive demands and hooked on inessentials. There’s a wall of hypersensitivity, worth sitting on and stirring up positive, active imagination. Tuesday January 20 The Moon moves into reforming Aquarius at 5:59 am, MT, just a little over three hours after the Sun entered Aquarius. And at 6:14 am, we have a new Moon along with impulses to look at an established cultural pattern with an eye out for how it could be improved. Over the next few days its potentials might emerge into our awareness. We might feel like bursting out of the habitual way in which we interact with it. Today we can anticipate innovations, especially as we follow tense situations in the news. The Aquarius in us has a tendency to upset the existing order sometimes. If activated today, however, things might not go as planned. Wednesday January 21 This morning the inventive Aquarius Moon meets up with the planet Mercury, which went retrograde just nineteen minutes earlier at 8:54 am, MT. Our thinking and perceptions today, and over the next three weeks, are vastly influenced by our feelings. Secret layers of how our minds work in social dynamics become obvious if we’re re-examining the how’s and why’s of our thoughts. Inspired insights arise directly from the subconscious. The joys of interacting with others lead to wiser perspectives on the implicit unity of all of life. Important enduring truths get reinforced. All in all, the intellectual, social Aquarius in us, an air sign which bears water, can flow through nature and wrap its mind around anything. Thursday January 22 The Moon moves into the mysterious spells of Pisces at 5:48 am, MT. The daily reality which we anticipate freezes as we deal with ghosts of unresolved issues. They melt away midday, as does the heaviness of the morning. This afternoon we can race into uncharted territory. This can be an adventure to physical places or deeds as well as to emotional and psychological experiences. Such a journey encourages questioning some happenings. Thoughts of moving away from an inhibiting situation surround us. Confusion and feelings of being on edge can be eased by changing one’s frame of reference after first attuning to the here and now in the present environment. Friday January 23 This Pisces Moon offers a magical feeling as the day begins. At 11:30 am, MT, the Moon enters her crescent phase when we can be aware of the possibility of something new in our lives, but effort is needed to partake in it. Without attending to it step by step, we risk losing attunement to this gift from spirit. There are plenty of opportunities to move beyond one’s present state of reality. At 4:13 pm, the Moon goes void of course, washing off the dream wishes of Pisces until tomorrow morning. During this time we can be encapsulated in a serene imaginary world, envisioning desirable futures. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute. Weekend January 24 and 25 The Moon is in “go for it” Aries for the weekend. We can speed ahead at full throttle , getting a fast overview of new factors which might lead to an innovation. We can see the potential for it in old companions and past situations. On Sunday, thinking about the way in which we network with others can stir up an exuberant spirit to participate in the larger social picture. The Aries in us can be forward-looking and unhesitating to take every chance available to try something new. By giving one’s desires and impulses free rein to act spontaneously we can cultivate the beginnings of what our souls are longing for at this time.
